Reports To: Senior Director of Program Operations

Status: Regular Full-Time, Salaried (Exempt)

Schedule/Hours: Full-time (Monday-Friday). 40 hours/week with additional hours as needed.

Compensation: Starting Salary Range (annualized): $45,000 - $60,000, based on relevant experience. This full-time position is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, vision and supplemental insurance, paid vacation, sick leave, designated holidays, and 401k retirement for qualified employees.


American Conservation Experience (ACE) is a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to providing rewarding environmental service opportunities to over 1,500 members (youth and young adults) each year, and does so with a skilled staff of approximately 150 employees across the U.S. ACE has a national reputation for providing professional development opportunities on a variety of conservation projects for the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services, and numerous state and local land management partners, either with crew based work or with individually placed interns. As the National Recruitment and Outreach Manager, you will focus on bolstering our efforts to recruit members and attract a best-in-class staff to our organization.


Position Summary:

We are seeking an energetic, nationally-focused National Recruitment and Outreach Strategy Manager to join a growing team focused on recruiting and retaining young adults in ACE programming. This role reports directly to the Senior Director of Program Operations and will be responsible for developing unique national outreach strategies to connect with potential partnering organizations and top tier talent. An ideal candidate would have connections with youth-serving organizations throughout the country and have the drive to engage with various partners and communities with an end goal of creating mutually beneficial career pathways for conservation and service-minded young adults. This role will also be responsible for expanding ACE's member applicant pool through targeted research, strategy, execution, and reporting of outreach plans. The National Recruitment and Outreach Strategy Manager will collaborate with Program Division Directors, the Communications team, and Leadership teams, but should be able to independently develop outreach strategies and plans as well as build relationships within, and external to, the conservation community.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


Build Relationships:


  • Build and maintain a pipeline of applicants to accommodate for current and future organization needs. Develop networks utilizing attraction campaigns and digital outreach programs to attract diverse and capable members and staff. Work with educational institutions, professional organizations, and other stakeholders to promote the organization and job openings.
  • Attend, and coordinate staff attending, recruitment events to represent ACE, and generate awareness of employment opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with current and potential partners to include: local/national young adult-focused non-profit organizations, educational institutions, private sector organizations, and professional associations.
  • Support the creation and execution of agreements and MOUs with partners.
  • Draft written communication and help develop materials to cultivate partnerships including proposals, slide decks, background research, email communications, webinars, and reports.

Leadership:


  • Develop and implement recruiting plans. Select recruitment sources and techniques to effectively fulfill organization staffing/member needs. Research and identify innovative and cost-effective advertising platforms and resources.
  • Collaborate with Program, Communication, and other ACE departments to develop outreach plans and strategies. Build internal cross-departmental awareness and alignment on partnerships, and lead the member recruitment strategy for the organization.
  • Lead the outreach strategy to target diverse groups for the purpose of building a workforce inclusive of but not limited to veterans, women, persons of color, persons with disabilities, and those in the LGBTQIA+ community.
  • Represent ACE at internal and external meetings/events as needed.
  • Attend, set up, and oversee on-site events as needed.

Data Management:


  • Research; contact list development; assemble stakeholders and contacts for message dissemination.
  • Develop outreach effectiveness metrics and report on effectiveness of outreach efforts against defined goals.
  • Manage outreach databases and external email listserv, maintaining up to date information related to partnerships across multiple states and organizations.
  • Maintain a calendar of outreach opportunities including meetings and events.
  • Track and monitor forecasting of new vacancies, vacancies that are moving through the approval process, and approved vacancies to begin the recruitment process and set recruitment strategy meetings.

  • Other related duties as assigned; responsibilities and tasks outlined are not exhaustive and may change as determined by ACE.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:


  • 3+ years' cultivating effective recruitment pipelines, developing recruitment strategies and/or effective outreach experience is required; non-profit and field conservation experience preferred.
  • Has a track record of highly creative, out-of-the-box recruitment initiatives and ideas OR has a background in successful youth development programming and/or member experience work.
  • Communicate effectively with empathy and connection.
  • Proven experience working with diverse audiences and communities.
  • Able to work within deadlines and help establish timelines.
  • Multi-tasking, ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to strengthen existing employer relationships and expand employer outreach to meet the demand of organizations recruitment needs.
  • Ability to use and analyze data to evaluate and improve programs, as well as ongoing monitoring and evaluation of initiatives.
  • Ability to work with colleagues across ACE, as well as external stakeholders to promote and implement priorities for job and internship recruitment.
  • Possess familiarity with employment information and labor market data for job and internship opportunities, as well as trends in career development, effective recruiting strategies, technology, and higher education networks.
  • Ability to supervise team members to organize, plan and evaluate recruiting events, including but not limited to career fairs and interview programs.
  • Ability to articulate the needs and concerns of historically under-represented and ethnically diverse populations.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to effectively follow up and follow through.
  • Effective problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills with small and large groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently as well as part of a team.
  • Experience preparing reports.
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends and late nights is required.

Requirements:


  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Valid driver's license and an insurable driving record.
  • Proficient in English.
  • Ability to pass a federal criminal background check.
  • Willing to abide by ACE Policy and Federal Drug Free workplace policies and laws.

Physical Demands, Work Environment and Working Conditions


  • Physical Demands: Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, carrying, using hands to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, talks and hears. Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard/mouse and other routine office equipment. May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, climb stairs, and/or crouch.
  • Vision Requirements: Requires close, distance, peripheral and depth perception vision as well as the ability to focus.
  • Weight Lifted or Force Exerted: Frequently lifts up to 10 lbs., occasionally lifts up to 25 pounds.
  • Environmental: Moderate noise such as in a business office with equipment and light traffic.
  • Travel: This position requires some domestic travel.
