Position Summary:
ACE Emerging Professionals in Conservation (EPIC) Program is seeking to hire a part-time Recruitment Assistant (RA). The RA will coordinate internally with the Recruitment Specialist and Member Coordinator, under the direction of the Division Director, to primarily support recruitment and outreach efforts. Though this part-time position is a support role, ACE appreciates the diverse perspectives provided by all staff and foresees many growth opportunities under this position. Recruitment for projects are diverse and range from invasive species control, riparian and wetland restoration, recreation and trail maintenance, wildlife monitoring, facilities maintenance, fisheries and hydrology management, ecology, landscape level planning, timber, outreach and visitor services, and other USFS priorities.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support recruiting for ACE's agency partners regionally and nationally (primarily USFS & BLM divisions).
  • Reviewing candidates, conducting reference checks and referrals, completing data entry and on-boarding for new members, and occasionally interviewing prospective candidates under the direction of the Division Director. 
  • Support outreach efforts for agency specific recruitment.
  • Participate in weekly meetings (check-ins) with Division Staff, when available.
  • Potentially support a variety of organizational efforts in DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion), safety, communication, and the development of a broader recruitment strategy.
  • Support efforts to collect and organize data on recruitment statistics and program activity and success.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and enthusiasm to support workforce diversity in accordance with ACE policy.
  • Become proficient with data management systems utilized by ACE.
  • Support the USFS & BLM teams, and ACE, with additional tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, coupled with the willingness and desire to learn new processes quickly and effectively, are critical for success in this role.
  • Proven, unwavering integrity with regards to PII (Personally Identifiable Information).
  • Ability to function as an efficient, effective and adaptable team member.
  • Must be flexible, with the ability to work well as part of a highly mobile, highly functional team, and to complete individual project work without direct supervision (at times).
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Proficiency in English
  • Must be able to legally work in the US
  • Valid driver's license and an insurable driving record; comfortable driving ACE/agency vehicles as needed
  • Ability to pass a federal criminal background check
  • Willing to abide by ACE's Drug Free workplace policies. ACE reserves the right to drug test at any time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have, or be pursing, a BA/BS degree in natural or cultural resource management or related fields (preferred but not required).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in data management.
  • Experience with, or understanding of, similar corps-oriented, non-profit organizations, land-based federal agencies, or other federal or state agencies or non-governmental conservation organizations.
  • Strong computer management skills including experience with online personnel databases, iOS, Google Docs, Excel, MS Office, and Adobe Suite software.

Physical Demands, Work Environment and Working Conditions: 

The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Physical Demands: Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, carrying. Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard/mouse and other routine office equipment. May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, climb stairs and/or crouch. Field work outside occasionally required; walking, hiking, bending, lifting, digging.
  • Vision Requirements: Requires close, distance, peripheral and depth perception vision as well as the ability to focus.
  • Weight Lifted or Force Exerted: Frequently lifts up to 10 lbs., occasionally lifts up to 25 pounds.
  • Environmental: Mainly indoor conditions, some occasional outdoor conditions. Indoor air quality is good and temperature is controlled.
  • Noise Environment: Moderate noise such as in a business office with equipment and light traffic.
  • Travel: None.

Job Benefits and Compensation:

  • $15/hr. with an expected 10-29 hours/week. This is a term-position between 3-6 months long.
