Member Support Coordinator

ACE has a national reputation for providing exceptional training and support to enable crews to safely and economically implement technically complex and physically demanding conservation projects for the US Forest Service, BLM, National Park Service, USFWS and numerous state and local land management partners.

 

Title: Member Support Coordinator

 

Department: Member Resources and Outreach, Crew Program, Mountain West

 

Location: Hurricane, Utah

 

Reports to: AmeriCorps Program Manager, Mountain West

 

Status: Regular Full-time, exempt

 

Compensation: Full-Time, 40 hours/week within a flexible schedule.  $35,568 annualized salary.  Eligible for benefits package that includes health, dental, vision and supplemental insurance, paid vacation, sick leave, designated holidays, and 401k retirement for qualified employees.  

 

Start Date: March 9, 2020

  • Recruiting AmeriCorps members for the ACE Mountain West Division
  • Orienting new AmeriCorps members
  • Overseeing member housing
  • Conducting AmeriCorps evaluations
  • Providing overall member support

 

Position Description:

The Member Support Coordinator is an office-based administrative position and works closely with all staff members within the ACE Member Resource and Outreach Department. The Member Support Coordinator will be responsible for meeting the recruitment, housing, and AmeriCorps Member management needs of ACE's Mountain West Division, based in Hurricane, Utah (Southern Utah). The Member Support Coordinator will be frequently interacting with ACE's AmeriCorps Members and the general public and as such is expected to maintain a professional demeanor, positive attitude, and willingness to act as an ambassador of ACE's program and brand at all times. The Member Support Coordinator will need to be flexible, adaptable, and enthusiastic while working in a fast-paced office environment. Leadership and forward-thinking are important assets in this position as the Member Resource and Outreach Department will continue to evolve.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Member Management

  • Lead ACE/AmeriCorps Orientation:
    • Ensure full AmeriCorps Orientation is delivered to every new Corpsmember, ensure follow up items are completed on time
    • Assist with development and leading ACE Safety and Leave No Trace Trainings
  • Provide and oversee consistent and detailed housing orientations
  • Organize housing assignments for all ACE MTW Corpsmembers
  • Establish and enforce house rules and cleaning routines to ensure a comfortable, accountable and hygienic living environment
  • Purchase and stock housing supplies and manage ACE's tent and uniform inventory
  • Assist with organizing maintenance and repairs for the Hurricane property, including management of contractors to provide house maintenance that may include: painting, repair, plumbing, landscaping, HVAC, etc.
  • Member Management: ensure that all required Mid Term Evaluations and End of Term Evaluations are conducted with every member
  • Assist in managing Corpsmember information in ACE's internal database
  • Assist other ACE staff to mentor and develop Corpsmembers into stewardship and leadership roles
  • Assist with AmeriCorps compliance and other enrollment duties
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Recruitment

  • Recruit and support ACE Mountain West Corpsmembers
  • Conduct interviews utilizing the standard recruitment protocol and screen candidates from all backgrounds
  • AmeriCorps coordination: ensure consistent communication related to AmeriCorps program and numbers for every AmeriCorps grant being utilized with the ACE Member Resources and Outreach Department
  • Develop and maintain strong communication between ACE staff and all incoming and current Members
  • Network and develop partnerships with organizations/entities in the local community
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

 

The ideal candidate will possess a unique combination of attributes, including (but not limited to) strong skills in leadership, interpersonal communication, public speaking, organization, management, conflict resolution, and motivating others. The ideal candidate will have an established passion in recruiting, supporting and developing the next generation of environmental stewards and leaders. Past experience in manual labor while working and camping through adverse weather conditions in the outdoors is preferred. Ideally, this candidate will also have experience with residential youth programs.

Candidates should be flexible, adaptable, and enthusiastic while working in a fast paced, fluid, office working environment. The Member Support Coordinator must be willing to represent ACE in a safe, professional, positive, and enthusiastic manner.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Genuine interest and/or knowledge in conservation stewardship and youth development
  • Strong time management skills; ability and desire to perform multiple and variable tasks
  • Proven ability to work independently and be a positive, contributing member of a group
  • Strong computer management skills including experience with online personnel databases and email, Google Docs, Excel, MS Office, and Adobe Suite software
  • Willingness to travel, work occasional weekends, and attend community events 
  • Must have a strong comfort level speaking on the phone
  • Comfortable communicating directly with program applicants and other members of the public
  • Familiarity with basic office practices, file management, records maintenance
  • Ability to work independently in remote outdoor areas; able to hike and walk for extended periods of time, and be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficient in English
  • Must be able to legally work in the US
  • Valid driver's license and an insurable driving record; comfortable driving ACE vehicles as needed
  • Ability to pass a federal criminal background check
  • Willing to be drug free throughout position term. ACE reserves the right to drug test at any time

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated experience with the conservation corps and AmeriCorps or familiarity and passionate about engaging volunteers in stewardship and resource management 
  • Persons convicted of a felony are not eligible for appointment to this classification. This position is a covered position that may entail recurring access to vulnerable populations such as youth and the elderly. Selection for the position is contingent upon a review of all Criminal History results
