Summary: American Conservation Experience (ACE), a national nonprofit Conservation Corps with offices throughout the country, headquartered in Flagstaff, Arizona, is seeking a passionate and public service minded individual for the role of Digital Support Specialist. The Digital Support Specialist will manage web content creation and development, technology solutions, and support marketing throughout the entire organization. They will report directly to the Director of Technology, but will support a wide variety of staff members.

This opportunity is intended for an enthusiastic and caring professional with experience working with digital content, information systems, and front-line technology support. Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

 

Start Date: As soon as the position is filled

 

Compensation: $15 - $17 / hour, DOE

 

Schedule: Full time (40 hours per week). Work schedule is flexible. M-F though 9-5 is most common. Evening, weekend and/or holiday work may be necessary, but will be unlikely and infrequent.

 

Organizational Background: ACE works directly with the National Park Service, US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, US Fish and Wildlife Service and numerous state and nonprofit partners to help complete their resource management goals, to protect our resources across the country, and even world-wide. ACE is seeking an entry-level professional to support the digital content as well as the digital systems of this rapidly growing organization.

 

Position Description: The Digital Support Specialist will support ACE Staff, Members, and Project Partners from a technology standpoint. They will have a wide variety of responsibilities, many of which would be self-defined and change as the organization progresses. A core responsibility of the role is to perform administrative duties of the web content management system, which is currently WordPress. They will manage the content creation and update solutions and media as needed, while also supporting the integration with a variety of social media services, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. They will be accountable for deploying the technology elements of organization solutions that impact offices around the country, and participate in meetings to provide knowledge of the business process and rules as it relates to technology decisions. They will advise on the strategic and tactical interests of the organization with technology solutions. They will be involved in the development of web solutions for the organization, and should be willing to learn, if not already experienced in, web development languages and technologies.

The position will also assist in the adoption/change management and on-going compliance of new technology solutions implemented. Develop best practices as well as technical support documentation. Possess a continuous learning mindset to expand breadth and depth of technology knowledge. Provide continuous Improvement mindset to assess current technology solutions for needed enhancements. Show innovation and creativity in the design and development of technology solutions.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs content management system administration (WordPress)
  • Integrates content with social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
  • General technical support as needed, such as resetting passwords, generating accounts, and basic desktop troubleshooting
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, including programming and back-end development
  • Identifies, evaluates, prioritizes and selects current and future applications that support organizational needs
  • Ability to make decisions and evaluate changes to organizational rules and process steps
  • Accountable for deploying the technology elements of organizational solutions that impact offices all over the country
  • Participates in meetings to provide knowledge of the organizational process and rules as it relates to technology decisions
  • Ensures the strategic and tactical interests of the organization are presented within technology solutions
  • Assists in the adoption/change management and on-going compliance of new technology solutions implemented
  • Develops best practices as well as technical support documentation
  • Focuses on continuous improvement to assess current technology solutions for needed enhancements
  • Offers innovative and creative ideas related to the design and development of technology solutions
  • Tests and validate deployment of technology solutions on the computer and mobility platforms solutions are commonly deployed upon (ex: iPad, iPhone, Android, Windows Phone, Mac, PC etc.)

 

Qualifications: Past experience working in front-line technical support, as well as content creation is desirable. We recognize that an acute willingness to learn, and a passion for ACE's mission will quickly alleviate some gaps in desired knowledge or experience; however, recruitment of a staff member with well-developed passion for technology, and web development, and social media is critical. While the position is not field-based, ACE strongly believes that understanding the mission of the organization is extremely helpful.

A Bachelor 's Degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred. That said, ACE is open to substituting experience and passion for education.

Preferred Skillset:

  • Knowledge of WordPress content creation, maintenance and plugin management / installation
  • Ability to support Facebook / Twitter / Instagram posting
  • HTML / CSS
  • Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
  • Familiarity with basic troubleshooting of Mac and PC systems
  • Familiarity and comfort managingandstreamliningnumerousdatabases a plus
  • SEO a plus
  • JavaScript a plus
  • Ruby on Rails a plus
