Position Summary:  ACE Emerging Professionals Internship Corps (EPIC) Program is seeking to hire a full-time Project Manager that serves as the main project-related point of contact for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) Program and for other public/private partners. The Project Manager will coordination internally with the EPIC Recruitment/Member Manager and Division Director, as required.  Projects supported are diverse and range from invasive species control; riparian and wetland restoration; threatened and endangered species research and management; records reconciliation; realty; vertebrate and invertebrate research and management; ecology; landscape level planning; maintenance; outreach and visitor services.

American Conservation Experience (ACE) is a 501c3, a national non-profit conservation corps with its internship program office located in Salt Lake City, Utah.  We are expanding our USFWS Division of the Emerging Professionals Internship Corps (EPIC) program.

The EPIC program is seeking to bring a Full-Time Professional team member on-board who is passionate about public land management, and desires to work at the national level through ACE's 21st Century Service Corps partnership with our Federal land management partners.  Our partnership responsibility is to provide a bridge between academia and careers for young professionals seeking positions as a public servant within the Department of Interior.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Represent ACE's philosophy and values to a wide range of audiences including members, programmatic staff, management and the public;
  • Experience with similar corps-oriented, non-profit organizations, land-based federal agencies such as the Department of Interior or other federal or state agencies;
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills with the ability to maintain and effectively support a complex array of projects at a national scale;
  • Strong data management skills;
  • Ability to function as an efficient, effective and adaptable team member displaying professional-level proficiencies in both hard and soft skills;
  • Knowledge of the federal grants and agreements processes preferable as is contract experience;
  • Willingness to work and/or be available evenings, weekends or holidays as required.

Essential Functions Specific to the Job:

  • Serve as the main project-related point of contact for USFWS and other public/private partners and lead complex, multi-faceted, inter- and intra-agency projects involving sister ACE Programs as required.
  • Serve as main point of contact for intern and partner inquiries on all project-related aspects of the internship including: travel, training, vehicles, budget, special uniforms, safety, PPE, etc. 
  • Assist the Division Director and coordinate with the Recruitment/Member Manager with Cooperative Agreement and partner- and project-level budget development, tracking and reconciliation as well as reporting.
  • Support the USFWS team with additional tasks as needed.
  • Become proficient with data management systems utilized by ACE on all stages of Cooperative Agreement or contract implementation.
  • Support the Division Director in developing agency partnership opportunities and program development through on-site visits and efficient and effective communication.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and enthusiasm to support workforce diversity in accordance with ACE policy.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience with similar corps-oriented, non-profit organizations, land-based federal agencies such as those under the Department of Interior, other federal or state agencies or non-governmental conservation organizations;
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills with the ability to maintain and effectively support a complex array of projects at a national scale;
  • Strong data management skills;
  • Ability to function as an efficient, effective and adaptable team member displaying professional-level proficiencies in both hard and soft skills;
  • Knowledge of the federal grants and agreements processes preferable as is contract experience;
  • Ability to pass a federal criminal background check. ACE reserves the right to require drug testing within our programs;
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record; 
  • Willingness to travel long distances, spend multiple weeks or more, away from the SLC, Utah office.
  • Physical Demands: Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, and carrying in indoor and outdoor conditions. Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard/mouse and other routine office equipment. 
  • This position requires domestic travel.

Education Requirements: 

  • BA/BS degree (or higher) in natural or cultural resource management or related fields or have sufficient professional experience to support our nation's emerging professional resource management workforce and project partners. Degrees and experience in other fields will be considered;

Compensation: Full-time, Salary range: $38,000 - $43,000/yr. Benefit Eligible
