ACE has a national reputation for providing exceptional training and support to enable crews to safely and economically implement technically complex and physically demanding conservation projects for the US Forest Service, BLM, National Park Service, USFWS and numerous state and local land management partners.

Job Title: Member Support Coordinator - ACE Mountain West

Location: Hurricane, UT

Department/Division: CREW, Mountain West

Status: Regular Full-Time, Salaried (Exempt)

Schedule/Hours: Flexible schedule (Monday-Friday); some evening and weekend hours may be occasion required.

Compensation: Full-Time, 40 hours/week within a flexible schedule. Competitive pay with a benefits package that includes health, dental, vision and supplemental insurance, paid vacation, sick leave, designated holidays, and 401k retirement for qualified employees.

Position Summary:

The Member Support Coordinator is an office-based position and works closely with all staff members and volunteer AmeriCorps corpsmembers within ACE Mountain West. The Member Support Coordinator will be responsible for meeting the recruitment, housing and AmeriCorps Member management needs of ACE's Mountain West Division. The Member Support Coordinator will frequently interact with ACE's AmeriCorps members as well as the general public and as such is expected to maintain a professional demeanor, positive attitude, and willingness to act as an ambassador of ACE's program at all times. The Member Support Coordinator will need to be flexible, adaptable, and enthusiastic while working in a fast-paced office environment. The Member Support Coordinator's primary responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, and orienting the AmeriCorps members for the Mountain West Division, as well as overseeing member housing, conducting AmeriCorps evaluations, and providing overall member support.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Recruitment

  • Recruit and support ACE Mountain West corpsmembers throughout onboarding and service terms
  • Conduct interviews utilizing the standard recruitment protocol and screen candidates from all backgrounds
  • Ensure consistent communication related to AmeriCorps program and numbers for every AmeriCorps grant being utilized with the ACE Outreach Department
  • Develop and maintain strong communication between ACE staff and all incoming and current corpsmembers
  • Network and develop partnerships with organizations/entities in the local community

Member Management and Housing

  • Organize and administer full ACE/AmeriCorps Orientation for every new corpsmember, ensure follow up onboarding items are completed on time
  • Lead ACE professional development trainings such as Outdoor Safety and Leave No Trace
  • Conduct required Mid-Term Evaluations and End-of-Term Evaluations with every member in the conservation service program
  • Review AmeriCorps corpsmember timesheets weekly for accuracy and timesheet compliance in a timely fashion while working with members to submit those sheets regularly
  • Assist in managing corpsmember information in ACE's internal database
  • Assist other ACE staff to mentor and develop corpsmembers into stewardship and leadership roles
  • Assist with AmeriCorps compliance and other enrollment duties
  • Organize housing assignments for all ACE Mountain West corpsmembers and provide consistent and detailed housing orientations for new members in the ACE shared housing unit.
  • Manage housing supervisors and coordinating and enforcing house rules and cleaning routines to ensure a comfortable, accountable and hygienic living environment.
  • Purchase housing supplies and keep housing units regularly stocked, as well as managing ACE's tent and uniform inventory for members.
  • Assist the Associate Director with identifying and organizing maintenance and repairs for the ACE housing unit, such as painting, repair, plumbing, landscaping, tree removal, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Must have a strong comfort level speaking on the phone
  • Attention to detail
  • Basic comfort level with public speaking
  • Familiarity with basic office practices, file management, records maintenance
  • Must maintain a positive, constructive, and flexible work environment conducive to team dynamics
  • Willingness to travel locally, work occasional weekends and attend community events.
  • Strong skills in leadership, interpersonal communication, organization, management, conflict resolution and motivating others
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills with the ability to maintain and effectively support a complex array of projects
  • Computer skills required including intermediate knowledge of Excel and Google Suites, and professional email etiquette; Strong data management skills.
  • Ability to function as an efficient, effective and adaptable team member displaying professional-level proficiencies in both technical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to receive and provide constructive feedback.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to understand and follow ACE systems and processes.
  • Proven ability to work independently and be a positive, contributing member of a group.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Valid driver's license and an insurable driving record
  • Proficient in English
  • Ability to pass a federal criminal background check*

The ideal candidate will possess a unique combination of attributes, including (but not limited to) strong skills in leadership, interpersonal communication, public speaking, organization, management, conflict resolution, and motivating others. The ideal candidate will have an established passion in recruiting, supporting and developing the next generation of environmental stewards and leaders. Past experience in outdoor recreation or manual labor while working and camping through adverse weather conditions in the outdoors is preferred. Ideally, this candidate will also have experience with residential youth programs.

Physical Demands, Work Environment and Working Conditions

  • Physical Demands: Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, carrying, using hands to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, talks and hears. Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard/mouse and other routine office equipment. May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, climb stairs, and/or crouch.
  • Vision Requirements: Requires close, distance, peripheral and depth perception vision as well as the ability to focus.
  • Weight Lifted or Force Exerted: Frequently lifts up to 10 lbs., occasionally lifts up to 25 pounds.
  • Environmental: Moderate noise such as in a business office with equipment and light traffic.
  • Travel: This position requires local, domestic travel.
