National Park Service, USFWS and numerous state and local land management partners.

Direct Reports: Member Support Coordinators, Project Managers, Logistic Coordinator

Compensation: Competitive package with benefits that include paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, 401K, and health, dental, vision and other supplemental insurance.

Status: Full Time Salaried, Exempt

Travel: Limited regional travel

Desired Start: January 2021



Position Summary:

The Associate Director will oversee operations and member support for the ACE Mountain West (MTW) Crew division as well as management of the Logistics Coordinator, Project Managers, and Member Support Coordinators.  This individual will work with the Mountain West Regional Director to develop and oversee Crew Leader training, work with Project Partners to plan and schedule projects, schedule crew members for those projects, and lead the Member Support team with creative recruitment strategies, ensure compliance with AmeriCorps regulations, and aid in the professional development of Staff and Members.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Create a weekly Corpsmember and Crew Leader Schedule.
  • Plan and facilitate new hire and Crew Leader Trainings.
  • Work with Division Director and Project Partners on project scheduling and growth forecasting.
  • Track progress of project requirements, agreements and financial information, and ensure projects and necessary documentation are completed on time and on budget.
  • Ensure that MTW has the proper resources to complete projects including vehicles, trailers, equipment and tools, and crew supplies.
  • Recruit and hire new staff as needed and ensure staff has all necessary training.
  • Provide operational oversight for field based emergencies.
  • Manage Operational and Member Resources staff teams and provide development opportunities, oversight, and/or disciplinary action as needed.
  • Develop recruitment strategies and determine recruitment needs.
  • Ensure compliance with AmeriCorps regulations.
  • Collect and manage hours, measurables, payroll, and other data for input into proprietary database system and other software for regular and annual reporting.
  • Adhere to ACE safety policies and procedures; Reports any unsafe or harmful conditions, incidents and/or accidents immediately.
  • Foster a culture and environment that positions ACE for success and ensures that ACE is the program of choice for partners, members and staff.
  • Responsibilities and tasks outlined are not exhaustive and may change as determined by ACE.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
  • 3-years' experience in project management, member management, grant compliance or equivalent role within a Conservation Corps or comparable setting
  • Knowledge of a variety of conservation corps disciplines including trail work, restoration, forestry and fencing
  • Prior experience overseeing multiple projects and working with teams in different locations
  • Experience recruiting, including position design and interviewing, and working with young adults in national service 
  • Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to understand and follow ACE systems and processes including supervisor key responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to professionally manage confidential material
  • Proven ability to track details and organize
  • Ability and motivation to perform multiple and variable tasks concurrently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work remotely and independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong skills in interpersonal communication, public speaking, organization, management, conflict resolution and motivating others       
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills with the ability to maintain and effectively support a complex array of projects        
  • Computer skills required including competent knowledge of Excel and Google suites, and professional email etiquette; Strong data management skills.       
  • Ability to function as an efficient, effective and adaptable team member displaying professional-level proficiencies in both technical and interpersonal skills.      
Other Requirements:
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.       
  • Valid driver's license and an insurable driving record      
  •  Proficient in English       
  • Ability to pass a federal criminal background check

 Physical Demands, Work Environment and Working Conditions 
  • Physical Demands: Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, carrying, using hands to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, talks and hears. Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard/mouse and other routine office equipment. May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, climb stairs, and/or crouch.
  • Vision Requirements: Requires close, distance, peripheral and depth perception vision as well as the ability to focus.
  • Weight Lifted or Force Exerted: Frequently lifts up to 10 lbs., occasionally lifts up to 25 pounds.
  • Environmental: Moderate noise such as in a business office with equipment and light traffic.
  • Travel: This position requires domestic travel.
